Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo has returned to Bhutan, one of the filming locations of her hit 2012 series Princess and I.
On April 14, 2026, Kathryn shared video clips on Instagram from her vacation in Bhutan, where she went hiking and sightseeing—marking a full-circle moment tied to one of her most iconic roles.

Among the places she visited was the iconic Paro Taktsang, also known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

Perched on a cliffside in the upper Paro Valley, the Vajrayana Buddhist site is considered one of Bhutan’s most sacred landmarks.

“This trend again… but make it Bhutan edition,” the actress captioned her post.
Netizens react to Kathryn’s Bhutan trip
Comments on Kathryn’s Bhutan video were limited, but several celebrities expressed their support, including actresses Eugene Domingo, Vina Morales, Alyssa Muhlach, Via Antonio, and director Mae Cruz Alviar.

Meanwhile, fans reminisced about Kathryn’s role as Princess Mikay in Princess and I, fondly calling her by the character’s nickname.

Kathryn first visited Bhutan in 2012 during the production of the series, which followed the story of Mikay Maghirang—an ordinary girl who grew up in difficult circumstances, unaware of her true identity as Princess Areeyah Wangchuck, the long-lost heir to a fictional kingdom inspired by Bhutan.

The show also marked the second television project of KathNiel, the loveteam of Kathryn and her former boyfriend Daniel Padilla, who portrayed Gino dela Rosa.
Aside from Kathryn and Daniel, the series also starred Enrique Gil (Jao), Khalil Ramos (Kiko Salamat), Gretchen Barretto (Ashi Behati), Albert Martinez (King Anand), Dominic Ochoa (Dinoy Maghirang), and Sofia Andres (Dindi Maghirang) among others.
Pior to her Bhutan visit, Kathryn also traveled to Thailand with her team and rumored boyfriend Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala.
It remains unclear whether Mark was also with Kathryn in Bhutan.
