For Zendaya, keeping her personal life private comes down to setting clear boundaries.
The 29-year-old Hollywood actress emphasized how much she values her privacy, even as a public figure, amid rumors that she and Tom Holland may have already tied the knot.
“I just feel like for me, there is a level of a parasocial investment in my personal relationship, which I understand," said Zendaya on the Modern Love podcast by The New York Times.
She continued, "I’m aware that I'm a public person and so is he, and I’m also aware that we’ve grown up in front of people and we’ve done movies where we fall in love with each other, so I really do understand that, and I don’t want to dismiss that like, ‘Stay out of my business’ or whatever."
Zendaya and Tom first met in 2016 during screen tests for Spider-Man: Homecoming.
They’ve since appeared together in three Spider-Man films, with a fourth, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for release this July.

Tom publicly admitted their relationship in 2021, saying that they kept their romance a secret to avoid too much attention.
CHOOSING WHAT TO AND NOT TO SHARE
The couple is on the same page about keeping their relationship low-key.
"In a lot of ways, I’m also a very private person, and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well," Zendaya pointed out.
"We do our best in general to not hide ourselves from the world, but just to, I think, preserve things for ourselves so that we can maintain that joy just within ourselves and our loved ones, and our family."
The Drama star further commented, "I hear it, but I also [have] my own little boundaries of what I like to bring up and talk about, but then also what I'm also willing to share, you know? I just try to find the balance in the middle there."
Zendaya and Tom got engaged in December 2024.
On March 1, 2026, Law Roach, Zendaya’s stylist, revealed the two stars had already tied the knot in a secret wedding.
"The wedding has already happened. You missed it," Law told Access Hollywood at the red carpet of the 2026 Actor Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
"It's very true!" Law affirmed.
Tom and Zendaya have not officially confirmed the stylist’s claim.

TOM'S CALMING EFFECT
While Zendaya did not address the wedding rumor, she spoke warmly about Tom during the podcast interview.
She affectionately described the Spider-Man lead star as a steady presence in her life.
“I think sometimes, at least in my personal experience, I found that, sometimes people can get nervous around people, but there’s a certain feeling that I was able to experience when I knew that this is my person," she said.
“I don’t feel nervous, I feel really peaceful, and I feel really calm. And feel like, ‘Oh, I actually feel more nervous when I’m away from you than when I’m with you.’ And that's when I was like, ‘Ah, that's a good sign, that’s me listening to intuition.’”
This had been true from the moment they first met, the actress said in retrospect.
“We first met in an audition, so I was pretty nervous anyway, but he did make me feel calm, just by being a nice person, you know, by making me feel comfortable,” Zendaya said.
“Having to do a chemistry read for a big movie like that—it’s like, you really want the job and all these kinds of things. And yeah, he was really lovely then.”
