TWICE member Chaeyoung has announced her departure from JYP Entertainment, becoming the second member of the K-pop girl group to leave the agency.
The 27-year-old singer shared the news on Thursday, August 13, 2026, through a handwritten message posted on her Instagram.

Chaeyoung said she is excited to begin a "new chapter" and pursue her music activities through her new creative world, LIL FANTASY.
"I wanted to share this with ONCE first, my family, who has always been by my side.
"I’m so excited to step into a new chapter and bring my new LIL FANTASY, a world where I can explore and build my music," she said in the post’s caption, which featured her message in both Korean and English.

Chaeyoung also expressed her gratitude to JYP Entertainment and her fellow members for supporting her throughout her 14 years with the agency.

"I want to deeply thank everyone at JYP and Team TWICE for believing in and supporting me over the past 14 years.
"And to my TWICE members, who are always my strength and biggest supporters, thank you, and I love you beyond words."
She then reassured fans that her departure from JYP Entertainment will not affect her activities with TWICE.
"Please know that nothing changes with TWICE," Chaeyoung said, emphasizing that her years as a member of the group will always remain her roots.
She continued: "I hope both Chaeyoung of TWICE and Chaeyoung in LIL FANTASY can continue to create music that brings meaning to you as well.
"This is a new challenge for me, and I promise to keep growing into an even better person and artist.
"Thank you for always believing in me. I love you!"

Chaeyoung, whose full name is Son Chae Young, debuted with TWICE in 2015 alongside Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Tzuyu.
The group has since become one of K-pop’s leading girl groups, with a global fanbase known as ONCE.
In 2025, Chaeyoung made her official solo debut with her first studio album, LIL FANTASY vol. 1.

Meanwhile, Chaeyoung’s announcement comes just three days after fellow TWICE member Jeongyeon revealed that she had left JYP Entertainment after 11 years with the agency.
Jeongyeon subsequently signed an exclusive contract with VARO Entertainment as she prepares to pursue acting projects.

Despite their departures from JYP Entertainment, both Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung have made it clear that they intend to continue their activities as members of TWICE.
