For her caption, Kris penned an inspiring message about brushing off negative comments about her body and breaking free of unrealistic beauty standards.

She wrote (published as is), "Yeah, right, whatever. [emoji] My purpose is way bigger than anyone's opinion of me.[emoji] And, I will never sacrifice who I am because someone else has a problem with it.

"In a time when emotional and mental wellbeing are gravely impacted, I hope more people will normalize our bodies for keeping us alive (No matter what shape it's in!).

"Normalize shunning 'beauty standards' because there's none. We are all strong and beautiful just as we are.

"I work hard. I am responsible. I dress well to feel better. I put myself together every morning. I manage my money. I pay my bills. I run my businesses finding out my greater purpose of providing jobs. I am educated and respectful.

"I have visions and plans for the future. Who doesn't value those, doesn't deserve me. [emoji] Love and light! Find your inner peace!!"

Kris had the post re-uploaded on her official Facebook page.

Admins of Kris' Facebook page rallied behind the actress and defended her from the bashers.

One of her admins wrote in the comments section of her Facebook post, "Ang daming bashers! Stop body shaming guys. Haynaku! [emoji] Ako na naawa sa inyo.

"Ma payat man, fit, mataba or ano pa yan, you have no right to say negative to someone. We have our own lives to live. Manahimik nalang kung walang magandang masabi. [emoji] - Admin"

In a separate comment, the admin expressed her disappointment that the body-shaming comments were coming from other women.

The comment read: "It's so sad to read negative comments from kapwa babae. Women should empower women. Sana lang hindi mangyayari sa inyo yan. God bless your soul, girls! [emoji] -Admin"

Facebook user Laurence Sy took screenshots of the comments from the bashers and lectured them on body positivity. At press time, his post garnered 17,000 reactions and 25,000 shares.

Laurence wrote, "Hindi ko tatakpan pangalan niyo kasi deserve niyo rin naman mabash dahil sa mga ugali niyo. Sa totoo lang i really hate body shaming. Isn't it too harsh? calling her kalansay, buto and so whatever.

"You have no rights to do that. Besides, there's nothing wrong on her picture but y'all know the real problem here is yung mga kagaya niyo. Shame on you guys!"

Facebook page Ang Ginoong Hugotero also uploaded the negative comments he saw from Kris' post and defended the actress from her bashers.

The Facebook page urged the bashers to be more accepting of different body types.

Tandaan niyo, we have different body figure.

"Okay lang kung skinny ka. Okay lang kung chubby ka. Okay lang kung seksi ka. Okay lang kung anong fit ng katawan mo. Alam mo, ang hindi okay ay 'yung ipagpapatuloy mo ang pagba-body shame.

"Hindi ka pinanganak na perpekto kaya huwag ka umastang perfect ka. Kaya stay beautiful, Kris Bernal [emoji]"

This is not the first time Kris encountered such mean comments. The Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko actress has constantly expressed her dismay at netizens' negative comments toward her physique.

In her post on Instagram Stories last October 2020, Kris reminded her followers that public figures like her also get affected by negative comments.

"Actors and actresses have feelings, too. People tend to forget that. “We get hurt also… that we are humans. I hope in this time of pandemic we’ll love one another and just stop the hate.”
