Natutuwa si Derek Ramsay na maayos ang relasyon niya sa kanyang stepson na si Elias.
Si Elias ay ang five-year-old son ng kanyang asawang si Ellen Adarna mula sa dati nitong karelasyong si John Lloyd Cruz.
Higit pa sa isang tunay na anak niya ang turing ni Derek kay Elias sa kabila ng katotohanang siya ay may anak na lalaki rin, si Austin, mula sa dati niyang asawa na si Christine Jolly.

Pahayag ng aktor tungkol kay Elias, "Alam mo, super natural ang relationship namin.
"We just... it's not hard to love this young boy. He's so lovable.
"And if there's one thing that brought us together, 'cause Ellen is so natural in letting me take care of Elias.
"It's also one big reason why I fell in love with Ellen, because nakita ko how she is as a mother. And that's very important to me.
"Our relationship [Elias and him] is very, very strong. And very, very tight.
"But it's not to say that I'm replacing John Lloyd. Elias and John Lloyd have a very, very strong relationship. You see, they have that as well.
"So, to be honest, there's not much to complain about my life.
"And super, super thankful, and super, super happy having a life."

Pagkumpirma ni Derek, "Yeah. You know, it came very, very naturally because it's a matter of good communication.
"We are in the same page na ang priority is Elias. What's best for Elias.
"The parenting is easy pag ganun. How you genuinely invest for the best interest of Elias.
"Whether it's me, John Lloyd or Elllen, We're on the same page. The parenting becomes easy kapag ganun."

Sa pagkakataong ito, kinumusta naman ng PEP.ph ang relasyon ni Elias sa 21-year-son ni Derek na si Austin.
Lahad niya, "They're very, very good, but their age gap is very, very big.
"And now that my son is based in UK [United Kingdom], they don't really get to see each other.
"Pero nung nandito, at the wedding, sila nga ang magkasama walking down the aisle.
"So again, parang perfect nga ang pangyayari sa buhay ko with our relationships, kasi walang kumontra, there was nothing to contradict.
"So, nung nagpakasal ako, ang una kong ginawa ay nagpaalam ako sa anak ko."

Ani Derek, "With me, and Elias, their relationship is also very natural.
"My son actually actually said, 'My wish for you is to find the right person. And I love Auntie Ellen, so no problem sa aikin.'
"I'm more than happy already with Elias, and Austin.
"Ang sabi ko nga kay Ellen, and if I'm not blessed with one more, I'm perfectly fine having Elias and Austin.
"But, if the Lord blesses us with one more, the more, the merrier, di ba? That's our wish.
"But honestly, if hindi kami makabuo ng baby, we're happy enough."

Kumusta ang kanilang married life ni Ellen? Marami ang curious malaman kung ano ang mga nabago sa kani-kanilang buhay mula nang maging mag-asawa sila.

"We hear a lot of nightmare stories about people separating, and some people who are married saying, 'Oh, how wish I was never married,' and I never understood that.
"We are enjoying our married life, and wala namang nagbago what we were before getting married.
"We just got stronger, and we have more responsibilities, but we embrace it.
"We embrace the changes, and nothing is really pulling us down.
"We just keep on growing, and growing, and growing.
"I'm not saying we're perfect, but we're close to it."
Wala raw sa kanila ang trust issues na nangyayari sa ibang couple, lalo na't pareho silang may colorful past.
Diin ni Derek, "We never had that. We never had that.
"Best foot forward sa amin, kasi ipinakita na sa akin ni Ellen ang dark side niya, ipinakita ko rin ang dark side niya, so walang trust issues.
"You know, if there's doubt, don't get married. Yun ang maa-advice ko.
"If there's a cloud of doubt, don't do it.
"You need to have a full trust to your partner. That's what I have for Ellen, and that's what she has to me.
"So, dun sa thoughts, na may ginagawa siya o may ginagawa ako, those thoughts don't enter our minds.
"Kaya nga, sinasabi ko, huwag magmadali if you're jumping into marriage.
"Make sure na secure ka na sa buhay mo, kasi may aalagaan ka nang iba."
DEREK'S SHOWBIZ CAREER
Pagdating naman sa kanyang showbiz career, nilinaw ni Derek na hindi naman niya ito tuluyang tinatalikuran. Nagkataon lang daw na may iba siyang gustong tutukang priority.
Pero walang siyang pinagsisihan na ginawa niya ang (K)AMPON.
Aniya, "No regrets, or whatsoever.
"Beauty [Gonzalez], my leading lady, is the best friend of my wife.
"And this is also a commitment to Quantum Films, that I love to do.
"I love the project, my role, and everyone in the production.
"Also, it's not that I want to be unshowbiz, it's not that.
"It's just a fact that another chapter of my life has opened, and I want to focus myself there.
"It's not that I don't want to do a film, it's just that my whole focus is in something—and that's the foundation of my family.
"I don't wanna lose or miss out those years, so yun ang priority ko."
