WHY HIDILYN IS NOT COMPETING IN PARIS
Hidilyn was looking forward to joining the Philippine contingent in this year's Olympics but failed to qualify.
In April, Hidilyn competed but lost to fellow Filipino weightlifter Elreen Ando at the IWF World Cup 59kg class in Thailand.
The victory secured Elreen a spot to represent the Philippines in the Paris 2024 Olympics, as she finished seventh with a total of 228kg.
Hidilyn finished 11th with a total of 222kg after failing to match Elreen's total in her final two clean-and-jerk attempts.
Unfortunately for Hidilyn, the 55kg division that she competed and won at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 was scrapped, forcing her to move up to the 59kg weight class, which she failed to meet.

"The result was not according to what I wanted and planned. But Thy will be done. It was not my day and Paris 2024 is not for me," a dejected Hidilyn wrote on Instagram.
"It's the end of my Paris 2024 Olympic journey, I will still lift, continue to lift, and inspire young Filipino Athletes to become Olympic Champions."
