Motivational speaker and entrepreneur Anthony Pangilinan had a proud dad moment involving his son, actor Donny Pangilinan, which turned into a small act of community support.

On Facebook, Anthony revealed that their family-operated Shell fuel station in South Forbes will cut PHP3 per liter off its regular diesel prices starting today, March 17, 2026.

The idea, he said, came from Donny.

Anthony explained that they had been assessing how fuel prices affect not just their business operations but also the community that depends on them.

During the discussion, Donny proposed a move that, in Anthony’s words, “didn’t make sense numbers-wise” but aligned perfectly with their mission to help others.

“Our partner (yes, my son!) suggested a move that didn’t make sense ‘numbers wise’ but was 100% in sync with our mission: support those who need it most in the community,” the 61-year-old celebrity dad wrote.

Taking his son’s suggestion to heart, Anthony said the station will temporarily reduce diesel prices to give motorists some relief.

While the initiative may seem modest, the Pangilinans hope it can ease the burden for drivers and small businesses that rely heavily on diesel fuel.

Anthony also shared a photo from the station while speaking with staff.

“Let’s all do what we can, while we can, for as long as we are able,” he added.

Rising Fuel Costs

The Pangilinans’ initiative comes at a time when fuel prices around the world have been rising sharply due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Global oil markets have been rattled by the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran, which began in late February after military strikes triggered a wider regional confrontation.

The crisis has disrupted energy supply routes and pushed crude oil prices above USD100 (~PHP5,980) per barrel in global markets.

A key concern is the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman that serves as one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes.

According to The New York Post, around 20 percent of the world’s oil supply passes through the strait, making any disruption there a major driver of global fuel price spikes.

Since the conflict intensified, countries across Asia—including the Philippines—have begun to feel the impact through higher pump prices and repeated weekly fuel hikes, as reported by GMA News Online.

Energy officials have warned that prices could continue to fluctuate depending on developments in the Middle East and the stability of oil shipments from the Gulf region.
