Hindi nagulat si Nic Chien nang aminin ng inang si Lea Salonga na hiwalay na sila ni Robert Chien.
Pero nasorpresa raw siya nang kaunti dahil ibinunyag ito ni Lea sa publiko noong nakaraang January 2026.
"A little. But, at the same time, not. Because it had been a long time coming, and I think it was honestly about time that she talk about it, and I'm really glad that she did."
HOW NIC CHIEN LEARNED ABOUT PARENTS' SPLIT
Nalaman daw niyang hiwalay na ang mga magulang noong siya ay 14 years old.
Ngayon, siya ay 19 years old na.
At sa social media niya ito nalaman.
"I found out in a terrible way. When I was 14, I had my own Instagram, whatever.
"I posted, like, my art there, whatever. And some some terrible fan had...
"Some lovely person went in the comments and was like, in all cap, in all caps—NICOLE, I’M SO SORRY THAT YOUR PARENTS ARE DIVORCED. GOD BLESS YOUR MOM. I’M SO SORRY."
"What the hell? And I had no idea. I had no idea that they were split, and I don't know where they heard this from.
"And I was, like, bawling my eyes and my, and my boyfriend at the time and my best...and one of my best friends were like, 'What is wrong with you?'"
Kinabukasan daw ay tinanong niya ang kanyang ama ukol sa komento ng nasabing fan.
"And the next day, my dad... I talked to my dad about this, and I text my dad and I'm like, 'What's going on?' You know?
"And he's like, 'I'm very sorry that you had to find out like that. But yeah, me and your mom are separated, and we want you to know that it was very hard, but that the conversation was long and very difficult for the both of us. And it's not your fault, you know.'
"It was, talaga, it was a long time coming."

NIC CHIEN ON RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS PARENTS
Kahit hiwalay na sina Lea at Robert, maayos pareho ang relasyon ni Nic sa mga magulang,
Aniya: "Great. It's fine. Basically, no problem.
"But like, even as a kid, I kinda had a feeling like, parang my parents were not as affectionate towards each other. I noticed that.
"I thought it was normal because that's all I knew.
"But when you see your friend's parents, like, you know, kiss each other and, like, hold each other and stuff in certain ways and whatever, and you see your parents not really do that so much, you know."
May karelasyon na raw ang kanyang ama.
Kinumbinse ba niya ang ina na makipagrelasyon na rin?
"I did. I did, but then, I think she doesn't want one.
"I think, I think she's very content with how she is right now. And who am I to tell her to find a man, you know, she doesn't need one and she's perfectly independent and whole on her own.
"She, she tells me, like that apparently, I'm the only man that she needs in her life.
"Just, just this... Her son, that's it."
Kuwento naman niya tungkol sa ama, "And my dad and my stepmom is a wonderful lady.
"And I am so glad that this is on TV. I wanna say this for the record.
"She's a wonderful lady, and I care about her and I love her.
"And, you know, my dad and her make a lovely couple. And I just want my dad to be happy.
"And I just want my mom to be happy.
"And they're very happy, separated."
