Hindi pa nagkakaroon ng pagkakataon ang mga miyembro ng entertainment press na makuha ang panig ni Morissette Amon tungkol sa isyu ng pagkukumpara sa kanya kay Charice Pempengco.
Si Charice ang dating katauhan ng trans man na si Jake Zyrus.
Umingay nang husto noong nakaraang buwan ang usapin dahil mismong ang ina ni Charice na si Raquel Pempengco ang nagsabing mas mahusay pa ring kumanta ang kanyang anak matapos mapanood ang video ng guesting ni Morissette sa David Foster and Friends show ni David Foster, na itinanghal sa The Theatre ng Solaire mula March 2023.
Sa kanyang “real talk,” ipinahayag ni Raquel: “Talagang wala pa ring ipapalit sa Alaska. Alam ko ang mga timbre ng boses na hinahanap mo DF [David Foster]…Sinabi ko naman sa inyo noon pa... nag-iisa lang ang boses na yan.

Hindi nagsalita noon si Morissette tungkol sa nasabing isyu.
Pero nang humarap sila ni Martin Nievera sa digital media conference ng Martin & Morissette, ang kanilang U.S. concert tour sa June, ngayong Biyernes ng hapon, April 28, 2023, isa ito sa mga itinanong sa 26-year-old singer.
Ayon kay Morissette, isang biyaya na nakasama siya sa Manila concert ni David Foster na para sa kanya ay tagumpay rin ng lahat ng mga Pilipino.
Malumanay niyang sagot: “For me, every opportunity that us, artists, get to be able to share the stage with international acts is a win not only for the artist but a win for OPM.
“So, I take it as me given the opportunity to do that naman—after Charice or Jake Zyrus did it before—is a blessing for me and OPM still.
“With the many countries and the many places that David Foster could be having his shows, he still chooses to come back to the Philippines.
"And to be able to choose artists, such as me and Tito Martin, and be a part of the show, ang galing talaga ng Pinoy.
"So it’s really a win for everyone and not just for the artists."
MORISSETTE-JAKE COLLAB
Sa kabila ng kontrobersya at intriga na nilikha ng kanyang partisipasyon sa concert ni Foster, gusto ni Morissette na makasama si Jake sa isang show dahil iniidolo niya ang kapwa mang-aawit.
“Actually, the years before, and I think even one of the last shows that I was supposed to do was supposed to be with Jake in Singapore.
“And every time that I am in the show with Jake or just have the opportunity na magkikita kami, lagi ko talagang sinasabi na fan ako.
"Kasi, I was rooting for him nung Little Big Star, like I watched that whole season.
“Sobrang support ako kasi ang galing niya talaga.
"Even with my team ngayon, we still listen to [his] songs, yung 'Louder,' yung 'Reset.' We still jam, yung 'Pyramid'... all those songs.
“Grabe lang din yung opportunity na ibinigay niya for the rest of the Filipinos coming after her time.
“I’m sure, that also prompted for David to come back to the Philippines because of working with Jake or Charice at that time, parang nakikita niya na ang dami pala na talagang magaling sa Pilipinas."
Sabi pa ni Morissette tungkol sa possible collaboration nila ni Charice, “I don’t know if there’s anything in the pipeline, honestly. May nangyayari ba na brewing show or something?
“But it would be my honor. I’m a fan kasi kaya parang, 'Ohhh, pinapakinggan ko lang ito dati tapos eto magkasama na.'
“Pero actually, we’ve also had events, not naman necessarily a show but events na magkasama kami. And it's always a pleasant time, just a fun time being with Jake and sharing experiences as well.”
Sold-out na ang tickets para sa show nina Martin at Morissette sa Graton Resort and Casino sa East Bay, California, sa June 2.
Kinabukasan, June 3, ang pagtatanghal nila sa Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino sa Indio, California.
Bukod sa mga paghahanda para sa U.S. shows nila ni Martin, ang shooting ng kanyang unang pelikula, ang Song of the Fireflies, ang isa sa mga pinagkakaabalahan ni Morissette.
Lahad niya, “I just came back from Bohol. We were in Bohol for the whole month to shoot that movie, Song of the Fireflies.
“It is the story behind the Loboc Children’s Choir. I am portraying the role of Miss Alma Taldo who is the founder of that choir.
“It’s gonna be my very first movie kaya yung kaba ko is there.
"Pero sobrang blessed ko po sa production na ito, sa opportunity na ito, kasi everyone has just been super supportive.”
