OGIE SHARES HIS MARTIN STORY

“I have a Martin story. High school po ako noon, I was fourth year high school so I could drive na.

“Yung sasakyan ko, it only had three radio stations because it’s a Japanese brand, so I had to play cassettes everyday.

“Hindi naman eight-track so the only cassette I had was a Martin Nievera which is The Best Gift.

“I would play that every single day. That’s my Martin story,” ang lahad ni Ogie sabay tingin kay Martin para sabihin na “You are my idol. Today that I am actually…producing a concert, I think it’s a big big deal.”

OGIE ON PRODUCING MARTIN'S 42ND ANNIVERSARY CONCERT: "DREAM COME TRUE"

“I think part of the journey is also you know… now that we’re producing something for Martin Nievera, this is something like a dream come true,” ang pagpapatuloy ng salaysay ni Ogie.

“He’s someone that I admire as a young boy, in fact yung solo ko sa Kundirana was your song ‘How Could You Be So Blind.’

“So we would ape his voice. Alam ninyo, nung panahon namin, the balladeer and the baritone voice of Martin Nievera was one thing that we wanted to copy, and personally I couldn’t, kasi I was a tenor.

“Everytime you open that mouth of yours and we hear that voice, it’s magic. It is magic. We just wanna relive that magic on September 27 when he opens his mouth and sing all of those beautiful songs, it’s like I’m playing my cassette again.”

MARTIN THANKFUL FOR OGIE'S SUPPORT

Nagsalita si Martin ng “I did not know he had the desire to help me with my career, not that he thinks or he’s never said it out loud that Martin needs help. It’s never been a pity offer, he really is interested.

“For me, it’s an honor. There’s no word for it. There’s no word when you have a friend who believes in you more than you believe in yourself.”
