“The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) mourns the passing of veteran actress Gloria Sevilla who passed away last April 16 at the age of 90.
“Dubbed as the ‘Queen of Visayan Movies’ for her screen portrayals in Visayan-made movies during the 1950s and 1960s, Ms. Sevilla’s acting career spanned for over seven decades. Her most beloved films include ‘Madugong Paghihiganti’ (1963), ‘Badlis sa Kinabuhi’ (1969), and ‘Gimingaw Ako’ (1973).
“The award-winning actress has been honored by prestigious award-giving bodies in the Philippines such as FAMAS, Gawad Urian, the PMPC Star Awards for Movies, and the EDDYs.
“In 2019, the FDCP hailed Ms. Sevilla as one of the Living Legends Luminaries honored at the Sine Sandaan, an event and festival celebrating Philippine Cinema’s centennial year. Her last role was in the family-drama film ‘Pagbalik’ which premiered at the third edition of Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino in 2019, as part of the Sine Sandaan Showcase.
“The FDCP extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Ms. Gloria Sevilla. Her stellar contributions to the industry will always be remembered.”

Sa storycon ng pelikulang Fall Guy nitong Abril 17, Easter Sunday, sa Novotel Hotel, Quezon City ay inurirat ko ang saloobin ni Direk Joel Lamangan kaugnay sa pagpanaw ni Gloria Sevilla at ng iba pang veteran stars.
Noong Hunyo 18, 2019 na pinagkalooban si Gloria ng lifetime achievement award sa 42nd Gawad Urian sa UP Film Institute, itinanghal na best supporting actor si Direk Joel para sa pelikulang School Service.
Bulalas ni Direk Joel, “Kailangang mangamatay na sila. Kawawa naman sila kung mabuhay pa ng 130!
“Pag matandang-matanda na, dapat magpahinga na, di ba? Kaya lang, dapat kilalanin ang mga nagawa nila, ang mga naitulong nila sa industriya ng pelikulang Pilipino.”

Naging katrabaho ko si Tita Gloria Sevilla nang gawin namin ang pelikulang Kusina (2016) na Cinemalaya entry with Judy Ann Santos. Sobrang makeshift at parang theater ang set pero wala kang maririnig na reklamo kay Tita Gloria.
Dahil naging kaibigan na rin si Suzette Ranillo, ramdam ko ang lungkot na pinagdaraanan ng pamilya.
Very significant ang contribution ni Tita Gloria lalo na sa promotion or regional/Visayan movies.
Maraming salamat sa lahat ng taon ng paglilingkod mo sa ating industriya, Tita Gloria.
Nakikiramay tayo sa pamilya Ranillo at sa lahat ng naulila ni Tita Gloria Sevilla.
