The public has seen plenty of speculation lately, especially after Atom Araullo confirmed he’s in a long-term relationship with a public figure he didn’t name but said people already “know.”
Naturally, attention turned to the woman most often linked to him—Zen Hernandez, a familiar face on Philippine television as a broadcast journalist who has been in the industry for two decades.
With all the curiosity going around, many are looking for straightforward information rather than guesswork or gossip.

If you’re one of them, here’s a peek into Zen’s background, education, career, interests, and the long-rumored connection that places her personal life in the spotlight.

EARLY LIFE
Name, Age, Birthday
Zenifer “Zen” Hernandez was born on October 4, 1981, which makes her 44 years old as of writing.

Family
There is limited public information about Hernandez’s family life.
What is clear is that she remains close to her mother, especially after losing her father sometime before her 41st birthday.
It is also not publicly known whether she has siblings.
In an Instagram post dated October 4, 2022, Hernandez shared one of her mother’s classic stories: she almost carried the names Lindsey, Jaclyn, or Catherine.
Her father, however, had a different idea.
He insisted on naming her “Zenifer,” a ship-name-style blend of Zenaida and Fernando. “Sooooo Pinoy! [grinning face with sweat]” she wrote, amused by the playful origin of her name.

The post marked her first birthday without her father, who had passed away only a month earlier.
She wrote about missing his voice and holding on to the hope of seeing him again someday.
Until then, she promised to bring him along in all her adventures: “Glad I can hold on to something that will remind me of you always. ILY.”
EDUCATION
According to her LinkedIn profile, Hernandez graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Broadcast Communication.
During her program, she underwent global journalism training that expanded her perspective and strengthened her foundation as a future broadcaster.
She eventually completed her studies, graduating cum laude.

CAREER
Zen began her professional journey at ABS-CBN in June 2006.
Nineteen years and six months later, she remains one of the network’s recognizable and reliable broadcast journalists.
Her earliest stint as TV Patrol Weekend anchor predates her current role.
In 2009, during the height of Typhoon Ondoy coverage, she was tapped to substitute for Bernadette Sembrano.
Her official appointment as TV Patrol Weekend anchor came in July 2016, when she replaced Pinky Webb.

Since then, she has carried the role with measured authority, balancing breaking news, national updates, and human-interest segments.
Before joining the weekend newscast permanently, Zen built her broadcast foundation across multiple ABS-CBN platforms.
She anchored Magandang Morning, a show requiring a lighter tone; and handled the weekend editions of Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Siyete and TeleRadyo Balita on DZMM and TeleRadyo.
Her early anchoring partners included Julius Babao, with Christian Esguerra joining later on.

Awards
Zen's work has earned industry recognition through the years.
In November 2014, she received the PMPC Star Awards for TV Best Morning Show Host.
On November 15, 2024, she was honored as Asia’s Distinguished News Anchor in Broadcast Journalism by the Asia’s Pinnacle Awards.

PERSONAL LIFE
Passion for travel
Outside the newsroom, Zen is known for her love of travel, a hobby she actively documents on Instagram.
Her highlight reels resemble a curated atlas—Australia, Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Germany, South Korea, Morocco, Japan, Spain, Argentina, Poland.

Each destination tells a story about her curiosity and appreciation for different cultures.
Her Paris trip in 2024 doubled as a work assignment, as she covered the Paris Olympics, specifically the weightlifting and triathlon events.
After fulfilling her duties, she finally got to explore the City of Love.
She visited the Louvre, sharing a reality-vs-expectation photo with the Mona Lisa, and highlighting the dramatic Winged Victory of Samothrace.

One of her favorite parts of the trip was boulangerie hopping, calling it a “must” in Paris.
She made it a point to stop at different French bakeries for fresh pastries and breads.
Zen's Rumored romance with Atom Araullo
Interest in Hernandez’s personal life surged once more following Atom Araullo’s admission on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda last November 28, 2025, that he is “taken” and has been in a long-term relationship.
When asked whether he had fallen for a colleague, he laughed and said yes.

When Boy pressed further—“Handa nang mag-asawa?”—Atom responded with another “yes.”
Although Atom did not name his partner, he acknowledged that the public already knows who she is, citing how often they have been seen together.
Through the years, Zen and Atom have been photographed in multiple public sightings.
Among those are during the Paris Olympics in August 2024, watching Miss Saigon in Parañaque in April 2024, vacationing in Hong Kong in October 2023, and attending a reunion with ABS-CBN colleagues in February 2025.

Their connection became even clearer during Atom’s interview with ABS-CBN anchor KC Constantino on October 26, 2024.
When asked about the woman in his life, Atom described: "someone with her own dreams, life, career, and priorities; someone he shares an industry rhythm with."
KC teased them: “You guys are so easy.”
Despite years of speculation, Zen has never publicly confirmed or denied their relationship.
