Sam Milby admits he once shared the same skepticism about men visiting beauty clinics.

But as the years went by, Sam realizes that looking good isn’t just for women, it’s about confidence.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on March 12, 2026, during the Avignon Thermage FLX Collagen Banking event, Sam opens up about how breaking this stigma has changed his perspective.

Asked if he used to think that visiting beauty clinics is “unmasculine” for men, Sam readily agrees, "Yeah, that’s exactly how I thought when I was younger.

"It’s so funny because when I was younger, especially in my 20s, I was like, ‘Skin care? My dude, what skin care? I don’t need any treatment or skin care."

But working in show business eventually changed his perspective.

"When you get older and you work in this business, obviously, you have to keep looking good,” Sam says, adding that a friend first introduced him to skin care.

Talking about what he learned from experience: "Age catches up to you, first off. No matter who you are—guy or girl—you want to look good.

"And when you get the treatment and you see the results, you feel more confident because you know you look better.

“So it shouldn’t be that if you’re a guy, you don’t need skin care."

So he tried getting a professional skin-care treatment.

“If you want to look better, the treatment is very effective. So when Avignon got me into my first skin treatment, it changed my mind about thinking that way.”

When asked about his skin-care routine, Sam wants to keep it refreshingly simple and easy to follow.

"At first, I didn’t want to use anything. But then I tried it and thought, ‘Oh, okay pala.’

"Now, at nighttime, I just put on a serum and moisturizer. That’s pretty much it."

SAM'S SUNSCREEN CONFESSION

One skin-care step, Sam admits, that he still struggles with is sunscreen.

"I know dito sa Philippines, mahilig ang mga tao na pumuti, pero baliktad ako.

"I wanna be mas dark, mas moreno. So if it's a very hot day, yes, I'll put on some sunscreen. But normally. just on my face, not so much on my body."

Because of this, sunscreen isn’t always part of his daily routine—something he openly acknowledges needs improvement.

Laughing, he adds, "Yes, I know it's bad, especially with my American blood. So it doesn't work well with the sun. I need to use it a bit more now. For sure."

Sam Addressing Aging Concerns

As he turns 42 on May 23, 2026, Sam says his biggest skincare concern is simply aging.

“My main concerns would be lines are starting to come out, wrinkles start to come out sometimes," he admits.

To adress these concerns, Sam gets thermage done from Avignon Clinic. It's a non-invasive face-lifting treatment that helps reduce fine lines and lifts face and neck.

The procedure runs for 60 minutes, and is said to have no downtime.

"Like I said, seven years I've been with Avignon and I'm really happy with all the results that I'm getting."

Beyond treatments and products, Sam also recognizes that good skin starts with daily habits.

He notes: "The one thing that I struggle with that I need to do more is drink more water, 'cause I know drinking a lot more water is obviously very helpful for your skin also—but I'm working on that."
