Dina Bonnevie has a good relationship with Kristine Hermosa, the wife of her son Oyo Sotto.
The veteran actress initially thought they would clash, but seeing the way Tin (Kristine's nickname) has become a devoted wife to Oyo and a hands-on mom to their five children, Dina has nothing but praises for her daughter-in-law.
In Ogie Diaz's YouTube vlog uploaded on February 11, 2023, Dina began, "Akala ko nga baka may time na mag-aaway kami, never.
"Kasi si Tin, sobrang, alam mo, ganito siya, hands-on siya sa anak niya. Sila ni Oyo."
Family is one of the reasons Tin decided to set aside her acting career.
Dina actually asked if she's open to making a showbiz comeback, and even encouraged the 39-year-old mom to join Miss Universe Philippines.
"‘Tin, ba’t ayaw mong mag-artista ulit? Sayang, like now, she’s so thin. Sobrang slim, ang ganda-ganda niya. Sabi ko, 'Yung Miss Universe ngayon, puwede nang sumali kahit may asawa, Bakit hindi ka sumali?’"
It can be recalled that in November 2022, Miss Universe Philippines decided to allows "widow, divorced, married to join pageant."
Back to Dina's question to Tin, the latter replied, "Hindi na, Ma."
When asked why, Tin told her mother-in-law, “Masaya na ako nang ganito. Masaya na kami ni Oyo nang ganito lang."
But Tin is not totally turning her back on showbiz.
Dina revealed her manugang's dream project:
"Tinanong ko nung birthday ko [January 27], ‘Ayaw mo bang ma-artista uli?’
"[Tin replied], 'Ang dream ko, magkasama tayo sa isang soap. Ikaw, ako, si Oyo, o si Danica kung puwede pa siya, o baka mag-umpisa na rin si Marc [Pingris, Danica's husband] na mag-artista.
"Sabi niya, 'Okay lang, Ma, gusto ko pa namang ma-artista,' pero ayaw na rin daw na may iyakan. Ayaw na niya.
"Gusto niya yung light lang, yung happy lang. Parang siguro comedy lang or light show, ayaw niya ng may crying-crying."
HAPPY ABOUT DANICA AND OYO'S HAPPY FAMILY
As a mom, seeing the happy families of her two children brings her so much joy.
"Pag nandun ako sa bahay ng mga anak ko't pinapanood ko sila, minsan, naiiyak ako sa tuwa.
"Na sabi ko, 'I'm so happy na may naiwan din pala ako sa mga anak ko. Disiplina.
"Ang ganda ng relationship nila sa mga anak nila.
"Sabi ko nga, 'You know, life is like juggling so many balls. You have the ball of life, yung work mo. You have your health. You have your relationship wth family, money,
"So lahat yun, puwedeng glassballs siya, e, puwedeng mabasag.
"Pero ang hindi puwedeng mabasag is yung relationship mo with your family. Kasi iyan pag nasira, ang hirap nang ayusin."
Also among her many words of wisdom from her interview with Ogie was the possible reason she gets along well with her kids and kids-in-law: "Hindi ako nakikialam."
Dina has five apo with Tin and Oyo, namely, Kristian Daniel, Ondrea Bliss, Kaleb Hans, Marvic Valentin, and Vittorio Isaac.
Her eldest Danica and manugang Marc Pingris have three kids: Jean Michel, Anielle Micaela, and Jean-Luc.
Oyo and Danica are Dina's kids with ex-husband Vic Sotto.
