With his attractive appearance and well-defined physique, ALV Talent Circle's up-and-coming actor Juan Carlos Galano, or JC for short, is definitely a leading-man material.
But is he ready to take on daring roles in, say, Vivamax movies?
"I can flesh out!" the 22-year-old model-actor told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview last March 13, 2023.
He added, "Ganon lang, yun lang masasabi ko."
But JC promptly pointed out that there are numerous variables before he agrees to take on a provocative film project.
He said, "Kung lead, of course, and basta maganda yung story. At hindi lang siya yung tipong hubad, maghuhubad lang for the sake of... [for nothing]."
TAKING ON DARING ROLES
JC stated that the production and the material are two of the important factors he takes into account if he decides to say yes to showing skin on screen.
As he put it: "I think every actor has a chance to develop more and more in each project [they take on]... At saka depende din sa director, mga katrabaho mo, di ba?
"Depende din sa material, so ang daming nagka-come into play in producing material, e, [or] a film.
"So, hindi lang naman porket magaling actors... kasi kung pangit naman material mo or pangit yung writing [or] story, it really wouldn’t work out, e.
"Kahit pa may star quality yung actors."
JC mentioned that this insight was imparted to him by film and TV director Jose Javier Reyes whom he had the pleasure of working in the upcoming movie Cheat Day, featuring Alexa Miro and Derrick Monasterio.
The actor added, "Marami nang ganon na parang sabi ko, 'Ah, I really need to tread carefully in this industry and really, really read the material that are presented to me.'
"Na parang sabi din sa akin ni Direk Joey yun na, 'You have to be mindful on the roles you take and the projects you tackle.'
"Kasi hindi mahirap na, e. Akala ko nga you can keep doing projects lang basta-basta, but you have to also take care of your filmography, your image, your brand, as well.
"So, ang dami nagka-come into play na parang you really have to be mindful."
ACTING OVER MODELLING
JC has been active in the entertainment industry for two years, under the management of Arnold Vegafria's ALV Talent Circuit.
The 22-year-old model made his acting debut via the Metro Manila Film Festival 2021 entry Nelia, top-billed by beauty queen-actress Winwyn Marquez and directed by Lester Dimaranan.
On TV, JC has shown his acting skills via GMA-7's Raya Sirena, Regal Studio Presents, and Daddy's Gurl.
Currently, he's taking on the role of Dodong in Ateneo Blue Repertory's staging of Zsazsa Zaturnnah: The Musical, which also stars theater actor Phi Palmos and actress-singer Kim Molina.
Aside from his acting projects, he has made a mark as an underwear model for a Filipino clothing brand.
When asked about his preference between acting and modelling, JC stated that he finds more personal satisfaction as an actor.
He explained, "I would say I’m more of an actor kaysa sa model kasi kapag nag-aano nga, e, we do this shoots, parang ako mismo, parang limited ako sa mga galaw ko or sa poses that I can do.
"But in acting and film, wherein it’s moving, it’s dynamic, mas comfortable ako na I don’t really need to do these poses for show or for the picture in front of the camera...
"Kasi tendency, kapag nagmo-model ako, I do this model face na parang [awkward] ta's kapag tinitingnan ako sa pictures, I just...
"I guess it just works out na yung mga nakuha nilang material sa akin, let’s say for Bench, ang daming photos, di ba?
"May mga okay naman, may nakukuha, may pitik na okay, like ako mismo, parang I’m not really feeling this photo."
