Sabi ng aktres, “I think my number one insecurity would be my weight. I think that’s no secret all throughout my showbiz career.

“I would always get criticized for my weight fluctuating back and forth and, you know, like rumors about me being pregnant just because I would gain a little bit of weight.

"It would really affect my mental health.”

Saad niya, “And when I think of myself, I don’t think of myself as someone who is overweight generally because I’m very actually health conscious.

“Like, I eat good, I make sure that I exercise, I make sure to live a healthy lifestyle.

"So, I don’t think I’m unhealthy but because, you know, the demands of being in showbiz physically are like unattainable.

“I always get compared to girls that are smaller than me, with my peers that are smaller than me.

"And because I’m a halfie [half-Filipino, half-American], I also am a little bit on the bigger side.”

“’HAYOP’ INSTEAD OF ‘HI, HOPE’”

Kuwento niya, “But aside from that, I’m also insecure about, I would say, my skin, especially on my legs, not my face but on my body.

"Coz I really had bad skin growing up coz I have allergic reactions to like the air, change in environment, because I grew up in America and I came here and all of a sudden I had like all these rashes coming up my legs and stuff.

“And I kind of got bullied in school for that. People would call me ‘hayop,’ instead of saying ‘Hi, Hope.’ It would be like ‘hayop’ coz like people would say that I have like ‘galis’ like a dog because my skin was really bad.”

Dagdag niya, “Then coming into showbiz, I remember people would always point out my knees and how they were all, like, scarred up and also very dark compared to, like, everyone else who had flawless skin.

"So that also triggered insecurity in myself.”
