FROM REEL TO REAL
Sharon's screen tandem with Robin developed into a real-life romance much to the delight of their many fans.
The two were close to getting married as revealed by Sharon at the press conference of their reunion movie in 2017 titled, Unexpectedly Yours.
“Matagal naming tinago yun, di ba? For years, walang may alam na ganun pala kami umabot kaseryoso.
"He talked to my father na hiningi na yung kamay ko. Ang kapal. Hinihintay na lang yung annulment ko," recalled Sharon.
The annulment Sharon was alluding to was her marriage to ex-husband Gabby Concepcion.
“We were dead serious about getting married,” added Sharon.
"We were very much in love. Parang nahanap ko na, e, yung eksakto sa akin. Yun pala hindi. Circumstances, bata pa kasi kami.
"He’s a couple of years younger than I am. Medyo nagso-sow pa siya ng wild oats niya.
"I had to hide from everybody how brokenhearted I was because I really loved him very much.”
Based on Sharon's account of past events, the wedding didn't happen after she found out that Robin impregnated Liezl Sicangco.
Robin and Liezl would marry and have four kids. The couple separated in 2007.
“But I also naman know that, among everybody who said they loved me, Robin really loved me naman to the stars and back," Sharon said.
"Di lang natuloy because may mga pangyayaring hindi inaasahan.
“Tsaka marami pong chapter yun ah after. Hindi naman kami natapos dun. May mga continuation pa din, pero naudlot pa rin. Nakulong pa.”
Robin went behind bars in 1994 for illegal possession of firearms. He was released in 1998 after he was pardoned by President Fidel V. Ramos.
