"Nag-rest na ako sa Pilipinas Got Talent," this was announced by Luis Manzano with absolute finality.

As the buzz grows louder for the comeback of the reality talent competition this year, after a five-year hiatus, Luis—its host for five seasons starting in 2010—confirmed that he's not coming back.

"Congratulations kung sinuman ang magiging host. Hindi ako," he said at the launch of Shakey's Supercard Super Cars promo on January 21, 2024, at the activity center of SM North The Block.

He continued, "Sabi ko, why not give it to the new generation? I think I posted on social media before."

If he were to choose the show's main host, who will be his top picks?

Luis replied, "Nakikita ko, puwede na, puwedeng si Robi, si Donny, si Edward, si Enchong, napakarami. It's about time na ibigay na yung mga ganung shows."

He was referring to Robi Domingo, Donny Pangilinan, Edward Barber, and Enchong Dee.

LUIS MANZANO'S CAREER PATH

Luis underlined that he's now veering away from franchise reality shows, and hopes to have "sariling game show na talaga."

The 42-year-old star added, "Whatever we did sa It's Your Lucky Day, na original game show, ang nananalo yung mga taong bayan, ang mga ka-Lucky.
Yun ang gusto kong magtuluy-tuloy for 2024."

Another thing he's looking forward to is a project with his mom, Vilma Santos.

"May mga usap-usapan din, actually...may sitcom na napag-uusapan. Pero we'll see how that goes."

LUIS MANZANO AS SHAKEY'S ENDORSER

Plucking him for a few hours from his family day was Shakey's, which launched Luis as its first celebrity endorser back in 2016.

He recounted the moment his relationship with the pizza brand started.

"It's because I'm really a fan...Kaya ko umubos ng isang Shakey's on my own.
And that's why they got me pala. And this is why they got me.

"Apparently, may mga shortlist sila of endorsers they wanted to get. Totoo ito, they went to my, I think, Twitter noong time na yun.

"May nahanap silang post ko na just finished a box of Shakey's on my own.

"It doesn't get more organic than that.

"It wasn't fate. It was me being a fan of Shakey's."

The event announced the brand's biggest promo, where every 300-peso purchase using Supercard entitles the customer with a raffle entry. Conditions apply. Prizes at stake: BMW X1, X3, and X5.

The company's President & CEO Vic Gregorio said, "Since 1975, this is the first time ever we're giving away not just one but three super cars..." Let's make it different, let's make it wowing."

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal): Coming from the pandemic, has Shakey's bounced back?

"I think, we can happily say weve done so. Pandemic was really a tough time... Magpasalamat tayo sa Diyos, we're grateful that it's kinda behind us now, but a lot of the industry is just beginning to shake up, just beginning to fully recover.

"I think as a group, we have recovered, I'd like to say faster than some. But you can never relax. You have to be always careful, always be mindful. The learnings we got from pandemic, kelangan hindi nasasayang iyan, and that's what we're committed to do."
