"It was our 15th year anniversary and I wanted it to be really special for us cause it's a milestone, you know.
"We're celebrating fifteen years of marriage and at our age, that's something special, you know."

But at the same time, my eldest daughter got married.
"So I didn't wanna... I wanted that to be the highlight of the year. That was the event of the year for our family.
"But I didn't want naman 2025 to go and we didn't even celebrate our 15th."
Aniya: "So I said, 'All right. Let's go to their... our favorite island. We'll bring the family.' Fifty of us.
"And of course, I couldn't afford that. So I said, 'Can I just sing one, one, one night?'
"I had a concert and she [Regine] guested on it. So, good. It was good."

Lahad niya: "Now, after the concert, I was chatting with my band, and I have this really bad habit of not chewing my food.
"So, ayun, nakikipagkuwentuhan ako. And then I... I choked.
"I choked on my food, on the chicken that I was eating, which was quite dry.
"And I had a bad cough at that time, too, so it was exacerbated by then.
"So, I actually lost consciousness."
Sabat ni Regine, "He choked."
Dagdag ni Ogie, "Choked and lost consciousness..."
Pagpapatuloy niya: "Yeah, so my daughter who is a nurse in Sydney, she saw me drop. And she didn't do the Heimlich, she did something else."
"She said she was... forcing her palm on my back and I gained... I regained consciousness.
"She was holding my face and she said, 'Dad, are you... can you hear me?'
"I said, "Yeah, I can hear you.' 'Can you breathe?' I said, 'Yeah, I can breathe.'"
Ayon sa https://my.clevelandclinic.org, ang Heimlich maneuver "is a first-aid method for choking that you can use on adults and children. Another name for the Heimlich maneuver is abdominal thrusts, because it involves thrusting into the abdominal area. It’s a quick and life-saving method, but you should only use it on conscious people who can’t breathe on their own."
Ayon pa kay Regine, "It was a few seconds but we could have lost him."
Aniya: "I was so scared and I was shocked.
"I was shocked. I was so shocked. And I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe it.
"Like, in my head, I kept thinking, I could have actually lost him."
Saad niya: "So many realizations that night because we had a conversation with my son and it was, like, it started everything, these conversations.
"Conversations with my son and with the family.
"Now, what I realized from that experience was that, yes, life is really short, you know."
Pero biro niya: "And it comes so unexpectedly. And going away with eating chicken is not... is not ideal.
"It's not... it's not a good way to go.
"So now, I chew my food more consciously."
