Naganap ang Stonewall Riots noong Hunyo 28-Hulyo 3, 1969 sa Syonewall Inn ng Greenwich Village sa Lower Manhattan, New York City.
Nagprotesta ang gays at lesbians sa police raid. Nagbunsod iyon ng gay liberation movement at pakikipaglaban pata sa mga karapatan ng LGBT community sa Amerika.
Noong Hunyo 28, 1970 naganap ang unang gay pride marches sa Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, at San Francisco.
Kumalat sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo ang pagdiriwang ng Gay Pride sa buwan ng Hunyo.
Ngayong 2023 ang ika-54 anibersaryo ng makasaysayang Stonewall Riots.
LOVE LABAN
Pangmalakasan ang Pride PH Festival 2023, Sabado, 10:00 a.m. hanggang 12:00 midnight, sa Quezon Memorial Circle, Quezon City.
Meron ditong Pride Expo, Pride March, at Pride Night. Ang tema nito ay “Love, Laban: A Celebration of the Fight for Love in All Forms and Ways.”
Makikisaya rito sina Allan K, Andrea Brillantes, Ian Pangilinan, Ice Seguerra, JK Labajo, Jon Santos, Markki Stroem, Megan Young, Michelle Dee, Phi Palmos, Sexbomb Girls, Silent Sanctuary at Wally Bayola.

Quezon City muli ang host ng Pride Festival this year.
Pahayag ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, “More than a celebration, the Pride Festival is a call to end the discrimination, hate, and prejudice among members of the LGBTQIA+.
“We are holding this activity not because this sector is seeking special treatment.
“Rather, what they long for is simply a halt to the undeserved ill treatment and denial of opportunities they continue to suffer from.”

PELIKULAYA
Ipagdiriwang ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) ang Pride Month sa pamamagitan ng Pelikulaya filmfest mula Hunyo 23 hanggang 30.
Iso-showcase dito ang LGBTQIA+-themed films. Ang tema nito ngayong taon ay, “Mga Kuwentong Mapagpalaya.”
Ang opening film ng Pelikulaya 2023 ay ang Hong Kong film na Happy Together (1997) na pinagbidahan nina Leslie Cheung at Tony Leung, sa direksiyon ni Wong Kar-Wai.
Hunyo 23, Biyernes ng 4:30 p.m. ang cocktail reception sa lobby ng Shangri-La Plaza Cinema 1, EDSA, Mandaluyong City.
May welcome speech kapagkuwan si FDCP Chairperson Tirso Cruz III at ang embassy partners.
6:00 p.m. ang screening ng pelikula. Ipapalabas ang mga pelikula ng Pelikulaya 2023 sa Cinematheque Centres sa Manila, Davao, Iloilo, Nabunturan, at Negros, pati sa piling sinehan sa Kamaynilaan kabilang ang Cinema ‘76 at UP Film Institute’s Cine Adarna/Videotheque.
Ang ibang titles ay mag-i-streaming sa JuanFlix (The FDCP Channel) umpisa Hunyo 30.
Ang feature films na may onsite screenings sa Cinematheque Centres nationwide ay Happy Together (Wong Kar-Wai), Girl (Lukas Dhont), Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Celine Sciamma), Women Do Cry (Vesela Kazako and Mina Mileva), Billie and Emma (Samantha Lee), Mamu, and a Mother Too (Rod Singh), Metamorphosis (J.E. Libre ang screening ng mga premyadong short films sa Cinematheque Centres nationwide.

ONE NIGHT ONLY
Magsasanib-puwersa ang Filipino drag queens na si Marina Summers at Viñas Deluxe para sa makulay na gabi ng musika sa kanilang One Night Only concert na gaganapin sa Hunyo 29, Huwebes, sa Teatrino Promenade.
Siyempre, bahagi pa rin ito ng selebrasyon ng Pride month. Panauhin dito sina Maxie Anderson, Eva Le Queen, at BINI.
Kaabang-abang ang numbers ni Marina tampok ang mga kantang “Divine,” “ride 4 me,” at iba pa pang sorpresa.
Sinusundan ng kanilang show ang pagbida ni Marina sa isang New York Times Square billboard bilang representative ng Pilipinas at Southeast Asia sa Spotify Glow campaign.
Samantala, aasahan ang bonggang performance ng Drag Pop Misis na si Viñas ng “I’m Feeling Sexy Tonight,” ang kanyang debut single.
Kamakailan ay pinag-usapan din ang impersonation ni Viñas kay Mariah Carey sa RuPaul's Drag Con sa Los Angeles, CA.
