Kapuso actress LJ Reyes is now Mrs. Evangelista.
LJ and Philip just tied the knot, with the actress posting on Facebook two photos of herself looking radiant in a wedding gown and holding a bundle of pretty flowers.
Their intimate garden wedding took place at The Bevin House, a Victorian mansion located at 76 Bevin Road, Asharoken, New York, on Saturday, October 7, 2023 (US Time), at 5 p.m.
LJ is currently based in New York together with her two children, Aki and Summer, from previous relationships with actors Paulo Avelino and Paolo Contis, respectively.
On Facebook, the couple's churchmate, Jerome Nam, offered glimpses of the special occasion.
One of the guests had a quick exchange with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) Executive Editor Karen Caliwara through Facebook Messenger.
The guest described the wedding as "happy and light" even if there was a downpour.
Both the bride and groom were like "a teenage couple, puro tawa lang sila."
Throughout the ceremony, "ang ganda at ang gaan ng aura nila."
The groom did not cry, and the bride was "very giddy and a little hyper."
FINDING LOVE AFTER PAOLO
LJ left the Philippines abruptly in September 2021 after her controversial breakup with actor and long-time boyfriend Paolo Contis.
Paolo was at the time rumored to be seeing actress Yen Santos, an issue that gained more ground after the two were spotted together in Baguio.
Paolo and Yen were co-stars in the film, A Faraway Land, which streamed on Netflix. Eventually, the two would surface as sweethearts in real life.
Meantime, many were caught off guard by photos posted by LJ revealing her engagement to Philip in May 2023.
The photos were captured during the proposal, with Philip down on one knee in an outdoor setting.
“'For I know the plans I have for you. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope," wrote LJ, quoting a Bible verse.
Last August, LJ posted her pre-wedding pictures with Philip on Instagram taken by Nice Print Photo.
The photos showed a radiant LJ clad in a white tank top and white pants.
Philip also wore white pants and a white shirt with black stripes to complete the look.
"In God's perfect time. Counting down the days til she becomes Mrs," captioned Nice Print Photo.
On LJ's engagement, her ex-partner Paolo Contis told entertainment reporter and talent manager Ogie Diaz: "Of course, I am very happy for her, very happy."
He added, "Feeling ko naman hindi ako yung dapat ano... siyempre naiintindihan ko na kukunan ako ng reaksiyon, pero again I am very, very happy for her."
