Divine Adili’s remains finally arrive in Nigeria

Naiuwi na ang mga labi ng Ateneo Blue Eagles player na si Divine Adili, 21, sa Nigeria.

Si Divine at kapwa player na si Rene Baterbonia, 18, ay nasawi habang isinasagawa ang team-building activity ng kanilang koponan sa Dipaculao, Aurora Province, noong June 8, 2026.

Ngayong Huwebes, June 25, inanunsiyo ng Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) na mismong ang pamilya ni Divine ang sumalubong sa kanyang mga labi sa Lagos City, Nigeria.

Pahayag ng unibersidad: "We are grateful to share that Divine Adili has safely returned home to Nigeria, where he was received by his family upon his arrival in Lagos.

"Our University representative, Fr. Sigmund ‘Munching’ de Guzman, SJ, accompanied Divine throughout his journey home and later traveled to be with the Adili family as they received their son.

"Divine’s parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Ateneo community and to all who helped bring him home with dignity and care."

Dagdag pa nila: "We also extend our sincere thanks to the Nigerian Embassy in Manila, whose consul provided invaluable support throughout Divine’s repatriation, helping ensure his safe and dignified journey home."

Pasado alas dos ng hapon noong June 22, 2026, Lunes, nang umalis sa Arlington Memorial Chapel sa Quezon City ang convoy ng karo na naghatid sa mga labi ni Divine patungong Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) para iuwi sa Nigeria.

Dalawang opisyal ng ADMU ang sumama sa biyahe upang tiyakin umanong magiging maayos ang pag-uwi ng mga labi ni Divine sa kanyang pamilya.

Hindi na nakauwi ng Pilipinas ang mga magulang ng nasawing Ateneo student-athlete upang personal na sunduin ang kanyang mga labi.

Sa halip, ang kanyang mga kaibigan at ilang teammates ang sumama sa kanyang mga huling araw sa bansa.

Divine Adili's Grieving Parents Seek Truth, Justice

Bagamat nasa Nigeria, paliwanag at hustisya ang sigaw ng mga magulang ni Divine kaugnay ng kanyang pagkasawi.

Noong June 12, hindi naitago ni Ifeoma Adili, ina ni Divine, ang sakit na nararamdaman sa sinapit ng kanyang panganay na anak.

“It’s not easy for us, he’s the only hope of this family. He’s our hope, he’s too hardworking, he loves his family,” pahayag ng naghihinagpis na ina sa video call sa kanya ng ABS-CBN News.

NOOD KA MUNA!

Tulad ng pamilya ni Rene Baterbonia, hinihiling ng ina ni Divine sa Ateneo de Manila University na bigyan sila ng kasagutan sa sinapit ng anak.

Saad niya: “I need an answer, a clear answer from the Philippines, from Ateneo Blue Eagle, the coach… Just please, I just need an answer.

“Let me know what happened to my son. Their stories are not the same.”

Katarungan naman ang panawagan ng ama ni Divine Adili na si Elias Adili batay sa kanyang Facebook post.

“I want justice for my Son Chukwuemeka Divine Adili who along others stood in for Nigeria in all Nation Tournament in Philippines in 2024,” mensahe nito madaling-araw ng June 12.
