The Department of Transportation Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (DOTr-MRT-3) just announced that it is offering free rides to eligible commuters every Wednesday throughout August 2026.
The initiative coincides with the observance of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act or Republic Act No. 11055, which established the country's National ID system.

Which days are covered by the free ride?
The Libreng Sakay program will be available on the following Wednesdays:
- August 5
- August 12
- August 19
- August 26
The free rides may only be availed during the following hours:
- 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Who can avail?
Only passengers with a National ID may avail of the free ride.
The DOTr-MRT-3 said commuters may present any of the following:
Physical National ID card
Digital National ID
ePhilID in paper format
Simply present your National ID to MRT-3 personnel when claiming the free ride.
Will there be another free ride after August?
Yes.
The DOTr-MRT-3 also announced that another Libreng Sakay day is scheduled on September 16, 2026 in celebration of Global Identity Day.
Like the August promo, passengers will need to present a valid National ID to qualify for the free ride.

Need to register for a National ID?
Aside from the free ride program, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) continues to offer National ID registration services at selected MRT-3 stations.
Registration is currently available at:
- Araneta-Cubao Station
- Taft Avenue Station
The PSA is also assisting commuters who wish to access their Digital National ID.
The DOTr-MRT-3 said the initiative is part of its continuing partnership with the PSA to encourage the use of the National ID while providing more convenient and efficient services to commuters.
