Sigurado nang magiging masaya ang Pasko ni Vhong Navarro dahil kinatigan ng Branch 29 ng Taguig City Regional Trial Court ang kanyang petisyon para mabigyan ng pansamantalang kalayaan habang dinidinig ang non-bailable rape case na isinampa ni Deniece Cornejo laban sa kanya noong January 2014.
Pero kailangan niyang maglagak ng isang milyong piso na piyansa para pansamantalang makalaya.
Si Judge Loralie Cruz Datahan ang presiding judge na nagpasya na bigyan si Vhong ng provisional liberty.
Ito ang nakasaad sa bahagi ng kanyang nilagdaan na desisyon: “Viewed in light of all the foregoing, and taking the evidence presented in the bail hearings as a whole, this Court is not convinced at this point, that there exists a presumption great leading to the inference of the accused’s guilt.
“It must be emphasized, however, that a grant of bail does not prevent the Court, as trier of facts, from making a final assessment of the evidence after full trial on the merits.
“WHEREFORE, premises considered, the petition for bail is hereby GRANTED.The bail of the accused for his provisional liberty is hereby fixed at One Million Pesos.”
Tiyak na ikatutuwa ng mga nagmamahal kay Vhong — ang kanyang pamilya, mga kaibigan, at tagahanga — ang magandang balita dahil pinakinggan ang kanilang panalanging makalaya ang TV host-comedian.
Nakakulong si Vhong sa NBI facility mula pa noong September 19, 2022, at inilipat sa Taguig City Jail noong November 21, 2022.

Kinumpirma ng isa sa mga legal counsel ni Vhong na si Atty. Maggie Abraham-Garduque ang balita ngayong Martes ng umaga, December 6.
“As of now, I’m so elated. I was shouting and crying at the same time when I received the email from the court this morning.
“This is an early Christmas gift for us and for Vhong. Nagpapasalamat kami sa lahat ng nagdasal at naniwala,” mensahe na ipinadala ni Atty. Garduque sa Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP.ph).
Inaayos at inaasikaso na ng legal team ni Vhong ang mga dokumentong kailangan para sa kanyang paglaya at kapag nakumpleto ito, maaari na siyang lumabas mula sa Taguig City Jail at umuwi sa tahanan niya.
