In just a few hours, the Kapamilya network's biggest and the brightest stars will gather for a night of glamor and giving back at the second edition of ABS-CBN Ball.

The much-awaited event is happening tonight, September 14, at the grand ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City.

This is the first time ABS-CBN went for a Filipiniana theme since the network mounted the annual charity event in 2007, formerly known as Star Magic Ball.

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) spoke to some of the people behind the glamorous looks of your favorite Kapamilya stars, and asked them to give fans a glimpse of what's to happen on the red carpet.

Celebrity stylist Em Millan told PEP.ph at the Cosmo BeautyCon 2019 on August 31, Saturday, that fans can look forward to the different interpretations of Filipiniana.

Em said, "I think what fans should expect is the interpretation of Filipiniana. It doesn't have to be straightforward as like the Maria Clara, you know.

"There are a lot of inspiration, and we have a very rich history. There will be a lot of stories that we can develop, and we can interpret that in style and fashion. It's not just like the national costume.

"We're so excited for the stories that fashion can tell this year."

She added, "When you will see the roster, each client we have has a story, and it's an interpretation of the Filipino culture."

Meanwhile, celebrity fashion designer Rob Ortega said classic silhouettes will probably dominate the red carpet.

He told PEP.ph through a message on Instagram, "Since we are looking back on our heritage this year, I think it will also mirror on the silhouettes of gowns.

"We will definitely be seeing more classical simpler silhouettes inspired by the postwar 50’s ladylike shape as opposed to the grandiose ballgowns.

"For color, we will see more vibrant hues together with neutrals that perfectly resembles the color of our piña fabric.

"While for embellishments, it will be minimal and taking inspiration from original Filipino elements."

He added, "Our Filipiniana costume is truly rich in originality and culture so I definitely think that it is important to maintain and carry over an original element while reinterpreting a modern take on it."

This year, Em and her style team, together with stylist Rain Dagala, will be dressing up Maymay Entrata, Edward Barber, Bianca Gonzalez, Billy Crawford, Coleen Garcia, Jay-R, and Lucas Garcia.

"We've been working with them for a while now so we already know what works for them.

"Of course, we understand what makes them happy, what makes them confident, what they want to hide, what they want to conceal.

"So it's not really about requirements. It's really what brings out the best in them."

Em noted that they always consult their celebrity clients on what they want to wear or if they have any input on the design.

The celebrity stylist said, "It's always a collaboration with the stylist, the client, and the designer. So we give our inputs, client will also give inputs, the designer would interpret and give an input.

"It's a real collaboration. We never have it with just one voice like kunyare, 'Ito, look lang ng client or celeb,' or, 'Ito lang gusto naming mangyari,' or just the designer na nag-sketch lang out of nowhere without a brief."

Definitely, Em assured that their celebrity clients will pick gowns and suits that reflect their personality.

She said, "It's also a showcase of personality, if you're a more classic Filipiniana, if you're more sexy or adventurous, it will really depend on the image you want to project."

Rob designed the Filipiniana-inspired formal wear of Yassi Pressman, Jason Dy, and Star Magic newbie Melizza Jimenez.

He told PEP.ph, "Yassi has a clear vision on what she sees herself wearing. She knows what shape and cut works well for her body, so she was particular on that while still maintaining a collaborative effort of throwing ideas from the whole glam team.

"Jason, on the other hand, was particular on doing a modern approach."
