Did you know that before their team-up was axed, Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes were supposed to star in a zombie-themed drama series on GMA-7?
ABS-CBN also planned a spin-off for its daily drama series Oh My G! as a weekly show, but unfortunately, it did not push through.
Just recently, it was also announced that the TV drama starring Yen Santos, Gerald Anderson, and Jake Cuenca was shelved.
These are just examples when TV shows were already announced--some even aired TV plugs--but they were not aired.
Last March, PEP presented a list of 14 announced TV projects that were not aired at all, even though there were teasers released or the stars already had story conferences.
As a follow up, PEP identifies even more projects that did not make it to the TV screen.
Here are television programs that viewers anticipated to see on the small screen but, unfortunately, were not aired.
Here are 15 Filipino TV shows that were shelved:
Because You Loved Me (ABS-CBN, 2016)
Last April 2016, Dreamscape held a press con to announce that Yen Santos, Gerald Anderson, and Jake Cuenca will topbill an upcoming series called Because You Love Me. The story was supposed to tackle the world of triathlons and serve as the reunion of Gerald and Jake after working together on Tayong Dalawa.
After the announcement, Yen and Gerald were seen taping scenes in Mindoro with director Dan Villegas, and the title was also changed to Because You Loved Me.
On September 2016, rumors came out that Yen was replaced in the project and that the project will serve as the reunion project of Gerald and his former love team partner and girlfriend Kim Chiu.
True enough, just last October 24, it was announced that Gerald and Kim will topbill a series titled Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin. The teleserye is still helmed by Direk Dan and retained most of its announced cast members mainly Jake, Bing Loyzaga, and Helen Gamboa. The show will also tackle the life of triathletes.

Meanwhile, when asked what happened about the previous Yen-Gerald project, Dreamscape said that it was already shelved.
The Cure (GMA-7, 2013)
It is common for GMA Network to launch cinematic plugs for its upcoming TV programs. However, during the first quarter of 2013, the network failed to shoot one. Instead, they just showed titles of their forthcoming TV shows at that time. One of them was The Cure.
According to a GMA insider, the show was supposed to topbill the love team of Louise delos Reyes and Alden Richards whose characters were among a group of people trying to find a cure after zombies infested the world.
However, this TV project did not materialize since Louise and Alden starred in a different TV series titled Mundo Mo'y Akin.
1G (ABS-CBN, 2015)
In September 2015, Andi Eigenmann and Zanjoe Marudo were announced to topbill 1G, a weekly series that is a spin-off of the defunct daily drama series Oh My G! starring Janella Salvador.
A teaser was also launched in the same month featuring a jingle sung by Yeng Constantino.
However, no update has also been made about this series.
Zanjoe eventually topbilled another project titled Tubig at Langis, while Andi is currently seen in The Greatest Love.
Humingi Ako sa Langit (ABS-CBN, 2008)
It was announced in 2008 that Judy Ann Santos will be starring in Humingi Ako Sa Langit, the country's first-ever "Nurserye," where she will play a nurse in a series inspired by ER and Grey's Anatomy.
Humingi Ako Sa Langit will also serve as her reunion project with Derek Ramsay, after being paired in Ysabella.
Juday even shot some scenes of the teleserye in the United States. The show was also supposed to serve as Jessy Mendiola and Dominic Roque's first appearance on primetime.
However, due to unknown reasons, the series was not aired. Everything was also changed, including the storyline and the cast members (although some were retained).
Finally, in 2010, Judy Ann's nurserye was aired as Habang May Buhay. Only a few things were retained from the original plans: Judy Ann still played Nurse Jane Alcantara while Derek Ramsay was her leading man.
Someone to Watch Over Me (ABS-CBN, 2015)
In March 2015, ABS-CBN and Dreamscape announced that or Judy Ann Santos's comeback on primetime TV, she would be paired with Richard Yap. This series titled Someone to Watch Over Me was also supposed to feature Diether Ocampo.
However, after a few months, it was revealed that Judy Ann is pregnant with her second child. As a result, the production of the show was delayed.
In an interview with PEP.ph early this year, Michelle Vito said that they were able to tape the pilot week of the series, but had to be stopped because Dreamscape decided to wait for Judy Ann to give birth.
When Judy Ann had an interview last July, she regrets that the project got shelved but also reasoned out that it might not suit the present time.
"Feeling ko lang hindi na akma 'yong konsepto ng teleserye kung ngayon gagawin. Kasi, siyempre, nagbabago ang panahon, nagbabago ang panonoorin ng mga tao."
Moon River (ABS-CBN, 2008)
After her first solo project Anna Liza was shelved, Maja Salvador was given Moon River, a teleserye where she would be paired with Geoff Eigenmann for the first time.
The supposed co-stars--Tonton Gutierrez, Chin-Chin Gutierrez, Jodi Sta. Maria, and Rafael Rosell--already taped a few scenes and had their pictorial. However, according to Maja and Geoff, they stopped taping since their scripts had to be revised.
Unfortunately, the series was not produced, and later on, Maja was included in the cast of 2009 series May Bukas Pa.
After a few months, Geoff decided to transfer to GMA-7.
Sine Novela presents Muling Buksan ang Puso (GMA-7, 2009)
In 2009, it was revealed that Heart Evangelista and Dennis Trillo would be paired for the first time through an afternoon series: the TV adaptation of the 1985 movie Muling Buksan ang Puso. The Sine Novela would also feature Nadine Samonte. It was supposed to replace Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?
However, Heart and her manager at that time, Annabelle Rama, did not accept the project. Heart reasoned out that it is due to the time slot and her role is against the clause in her endorsement.
Elwood Perez's Bagwis (ABS-CBN, 2011)
In December 2010, it was confirmed that GMA actress Jewel Mische is transferring to the Kapamilya network. It was also announced that she will be Gerald Anderson's new partner in the remake of Elwood Perez's 1989 action movie Bagwis.
To test their tandem, Gerald and Jewel first topbilled the weekly series Wansapanataym presents Buhawi Jack.
However, no word was given about Bagwis. That year, Jewel was included in the cast of 100 Days to Heaven and later, Maria la del Barrio while Gerald was tapped to play the title role in Budoy.
Mrs. Snow White (GMA-7, 2013)
When GMA aired a plug about its shows for 2013, one of the announced shows was Mrs. Snow White, which was supposed to star Carla Abellana, Raymart Santiago, and Jillian Ward.
According to a GMA insider, the story of Mrs. Snow White is a spin-off of the fairy tale but is now focused on Snow White getting fat after giving birth. The series was supposed to air on the early primetime slot.
However, the show was also shelved. But then, it served as a blessing in disguise for Carla since she was given the lead role in the provocative teleserye My Husband's Lover.
Meanwhile, Raymart and Jillian worked with each other for the show Home Sweet Home.
Bandida (ABS-CBN, 2009)
In 2009, it was announced that ABS-CBN will do a Robin Hood-inspired afternoon series titled Bandida, which was rumored to replace Pieta. In a Star Patrol report, it was disclosed that there were three lead actresses who will act as Bandidas.
Cristine Reyes had a previous interview wherein she admitted that she refused to play one of the lead roles in the show because she prefers to do more drama projects than action.
Other rumored lead stars include Angelica Panganiban, Nina Jose, and Regine Angeles.
Familia de Honor (GMA-7, 2013)
In GMA Network's plug for its 2013 TV shows, it was seen that Familia de Honor was supposed to have Kylie Padilla as its lead actress.
However, in March 2013, it was announced that Kylie will lead the afternoon series Unforgettable where she figured in a love triangle with Mark Herras and Benjamin Alves.
It was rumored that Kylie did not like Familia de Honor because the story tackles corruption. However, in an interview, Kylie said that she even wants to do TV shows as daring as this one.
A production staff then explained that they decided to shelve the series as it will be similar to another afternoon series to be aired on the Kapuso network.
Management then turned the plot to a love story so that Familia de Honor's original cast members--including Mark, Ben, and Pauleen Luna--will be retained. As a result, Unforgettable was conceived.
Sine Serye presents Kapag Langit Ang Humatol (ABS-CBN, 2007)
After Angelika dela Cruz finished her first kontrabida role via the remake of Bituing Walang Ningning in 2006, it was reported that she will star in her own Sine Serye, an adaptation of Vilma Santos's movie Kapag Langit ang Humatol.
However, the project was delayed. According to Angelika in a May 2007 interview, there had been problems with the production but they were set to start soon.
However, the project did not push through and instead, Angelika was given a kontrabida role in the afternoon series Prinsesa ng Banyera where she worked with Kristine Hermosa.
After one season, Angelika decided to leave Prinsesa ng Banyera to transfer to GMA Network and accept the villain role in Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita, a role she initially refused when the rights were still with ABS-CBN.
Sine Novela presents Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa (GMA-7, 2008)
It was reported that GMA acquired the rights to the 1970s movie Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa as part of its umbrella series Sine Novela.
It was also rumored that Ehra Madrigal was chosen to reprise the role originally played by Gloria Diaz, and later on bybRuffa Gutierrez.
However, the said project was not aired. Years later, there were rumors saying that Jackie Rice was given the plum role but the project still did not push through.
Pat is Tin (ABS-CBN, 2009)
In 2009, a story conference was held for ABS-CBN's new afternoon drama series Pat is Tin, which had Valerie Concepcion, Jon Avila, and Joross Gamboa in its lineup. This project was touted as the debut project of Cai Cortez.
In the series, Valerie was supposed to play Tin while Cai was tapped for the role of Pat. After a vehicular accident, Pat and Tin will exchange bodies and they have to figure out how to return to their own bodies.
Just like the other shows on this list, no update has been made regarding this TV project.
L.U.V. Pow (GMA-7, 2007)
Originally slated to replace Love to Love in 2006, the show which was originally topbilled by Camille Prats, Yasmien Kurdi, and Rhian Ramos, had to stop production since the cast members were all busy in their respective TV shows: Rhian and Camille for Captain Barbell and Yasmien Kurdi for Bakekang.
In 2007, they resumed production and Camille was replaced by Valerie with Alessandra de Rossi as the main villain. It was scheduled to air May that year as a replacement for Magic Kamison, which is only intended for a one-season run.
However, it was announced on April 2007 that L.U.V. Pow will stop taping again due to unknown reasons. They were scheduled to start again by September that year but it did not push through.
