This 2018, fans and viewers of teleseryes continued to voice their opinions about their favorite TV shows through social media.
The micro-blogging site Twitter continues to be a popular way for fans to express their opinions and observations about TV programs.
Some fans even hold Twitter parties while watching teleseryes of their favorite love teams.
Bloopers, outtakes, and controversial events also became talked-about on social media.
Twitter culled data to find out the ten most-talked about Filipino teleseryes. The list was revealed last Wednesday, December 5.
Five of these were from ABS-CBN, while five are GMA teleseryes.
Here are the ten Pinoy shows that made it to Twitter's list of Most Tweeted about Teleseryes:

1. Bagani
ABS-CBN's epic fantasy series Bagani, which aired from March 5 to August 17, 2018, ranked first among the Top 10 Most Tweeted about Teleseryes.
Top-billed by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, Bagani created buzz on social media when netizens bashed the show for getting lead actors with Euro-centric features.
This was after some people assumed that Bagani depicts the Philippines' pre-colonial times, because it was set in the fictional town of Sansinukob.
Business unit head Des Tanwangco explained in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the show only got inspiration from Filipino mythology and it is not a historical show.
Aside from the casting controversy, Bagani also trended on social media because of the "Mekeni Mekeni tugtog do-re-mi" dance chant, which was performed by Dimples Romana's Babaylan character. This received mixed reactions from the show's viewers.
GMA-7 headwriter Suzette Doctolero, for one, criticized the writer of Bagani for the unflattering depiction of babaylans in the show.
In the final episode, loyal viewers of the show took to social media to request for a sequel. This is because of the surprising twist that showed Liza and Enrique's characters appearing in modern-day Manila.

2. Wildflower
Wildflower, ABS-CBN's early prime-time series that aired its pilot episode on February 13, 2017, continued to create buzz on social media until it ended on February 2018.
One of Wildflower's most-talked about moments prior to its finale was the torture scene of Lily Cruz (Maja Salvador) in the town plaza.
The Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) even called the attention of the producers because of the episode's bloody scenes. As a solution, torture and bloody scenes were aired in black and white.
Another surprising twist in the show was the death of Diego, a major character played by Joseph Marco. Viewers thought that Lily and Diego would already have a happy ending. However, the show's main villain, Julio Ardiente (Tirso Cruz III), assassinated Diego when the latter was proclaimed the new governor of Poblacion Ardiente.
Wildflower aired its final episode on February 9, 2018.

3. Playhouse
ABS-CBN's daytime series Playhouse, featuring Angelica Panganiban and Zanjoe Marudo, started airing on the 11:30 a.m. slot on September 17, 2018.
Playhouse tackled the story of Patty (Angelica) and Marlon (Zanjoe), a couple whose marriage is on the rocks.
They were forced to make amends after they found out that they are the legal guardians of Robin (JJ Quilantang). While raising the young boy, they rekindled their feelings for each other but they had doubts about re-entering into a relationship.
The Kapamilya show is also the first teleserye featuring the DonKiss love team of Kisses Delavin and Donny Pangilinan.
Kisses plays Shiela, the younger sister of Marlon who has a crush on her schoolmate Zeke, played by Donny.
In the latest episode, Zeke is already courting Shiela, but he has yet to get approval from the strict Marlon.
The DonKiss love team ranked third in Twitter Philippines' list of Most Tweeted about Love Team of 2018.
Playhouse is the only daytime series that made it to the list.

4. Daddy's Gurl
Daddy's Gurl is not a teleserye, but a weekly sitcom that features Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza. However, it is included in Twitter's list of 2018's most-tweeted teleseryes.
The show premiered on October 13, 2018 on GMA-7's Saturday prime-time block.
Barak (Vic) transfers from the province to the city to live with his daughter Visitacion (Maine) after the death of his wife (Wally Bayola).
Much to his surprise, Visitacion is now Stacy, an influencer in Manila whose life has drastically changed from her promdi days in the province.
Fans of Maine's love team with Alden Richards gave their all-out support for Maine's first full-length solo series. In fact, hashtags of the episodes became top trending topics on Twitter.
Maine ranked first in Twitter Philippines' list of Most Tweeted about Filipino celebrities for 2018.

5. La Luna Sangre
Starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, La Luna Sangre had a strong presence on social media until its last episode on March 2, 2018.
The show premiered in June 2017.
Through Twitter, viewers and fans voiced out their opinions about the ABS-CBN prime-time show.
Some expressed their disappointment with the show, especially the story and special effects.
It is no secret that La Luna Sangre's tapings were hand-to-mouth, which meant that most of the scenes that they taped today would be used in tonight or tomorrow's episode.
Loyal KathNiel fans continued to support their idols by allowing the show to trend on Twitter everyday.

6. Kambal, Karibal
Kambal, Karibal, starring Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Pauline Mendoza, and Kyline Alcantara, is one of GMA-7's most successful prime-time series in 2018.
The GMA teleserye, which premiered in November 2017, had a rough start but its ratings went up when 2018 started.
During this period, the rivalry between Crisan (Bianca) and Crisel (Pauline) intensified after Crisel went inside Cheska's (Kyline) body.
Originally intended to run for only 8 weeks, the show earned several extensions, until it aired its final episode on August 3, 2018.
There were times when it went viral on social media because of its bloopers.
One of these is the CPR blooper, which caused a heated social media exchange between GMA-7 creative manager, Suzette Doctolero, and ABS-CBN TV host Ogie Diaz.

7. Contessa
Contessa, which featured Glaiza de Castro in the title role, aired from March 19 to September 8, 2018. It replaced GMA-7's popular afternoon drama series, Ika-6 Na Utos.
Even before Contessa aired on television, it already sparked debates and conversations on social media, because people were comparing it to ABS-CBN's popular series, Wildflower.
Both Wildflower and Contessa were both centered on a vengeful character seeking for justice. They were both inspired by the classic novel Count of Monte Cristo.
Eventually, comparisons between two shows stopped, as Contessa premiered after Wildflower finished its run.
Glaiza's fans, who are very active on social media, showed support by holding Twitter parties.

8. Victor Magtanggol
Alden Richards' teleserye comeback was a hot topic on social media after GMA-7 announced that he would not be paired with perennial love-team partner Maine Mendoza.
When it was announced that Alden will play the titular role in Victor Magtanggol, fans kept on guessing who would be his leading lady. Janine Gutierrez and Andrea Torres became his partners in the telefantasya.
Victor Magtanggol triggered discussions after Esquire Philippines pointed out the show's similarities with the character of Thor in the Avengers movie franchise. The Esquire article also contained tweets from netizens with the same observation.
One of Victor Magtanggol's viral scenes involved Andrea Torres's garterized mask. In the series, she played Sif.
Some people thought that the garterized mask was part of the costume, while viewers explained that Sif took the mask from a cosplayer as part of the story.
Another incident that sparked discussion on social media was the show's gun blunder. A reticle (telescopic sight) was shown on screen but there was actually no scope attached to the gun.
Victor Magtanggol ended its 16-week run last November 16.

9. Sherlock, Jr.
Sherlock, Jr. was a prime-time series of GMA-7 starring Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid, who assumed the title role.
Gabbi and Ruru's loveteam, dubbed as GabRu, is considered one of GMA-7's prime love teams. Their fan base is also active on social media.
The GMA teleserye created more buzz on social media when Gabbi's character, Lily, was suddenly killed in the March 27, 2018 episode.
This triggered speculations that Gabbi is about to transfer to ABS-CBN, especially when she tweeted "how 2 make the right decision" after her character's death scene was aired.
After Gabbi's departure from the show, Sherlock, Jr. continued airing until April 27.
In May 2018, GMA Artist Center, the company handling Gabbi and Ruru's careers, announced the separation of the GabRu love team.

10. Halik
ABS-CBN's prime-time series Halik, starring Jericho Rosales, Yam Concepcion, Yen Santos, and Sam Milby, is an infidelity-themed teleserye that is the talk of the town.
A lot of viewers have been expressing their hatred for Jade (Yam), the woman who cheated on her husband Lino (Jericho).
Jade had an affair with the rich Ace (Sam Milby), who is married to Jacky (Yen).
One of their most viral scenes was the confrontation scene where Jacky grabbed a pitcher and splashed water on Jade's face.
Yam admitted in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph that she has been receiving hate messages such as: "Hoy, malandi ka, p*kp*k ka!"
Jericho recently announced that Halik is extended until March 2019.
